14th January 2009

1. We pooled our ideas about saving water at school

Peach
Don't leave the taps running.
Don't mess about at the water fountain.
Collect rain water to water the plants.

Emerald
Only drink the water you need.
Don't leave taps on.
Don't spit, spill or waste water!

Yr3
Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth, wash your hands and do the washing up.
Have showers instead of baths.
Drink all the water in your water bottle - if not use the rest to water plants.
Tell an adult when a tap keeps running.

3 Scarlet
Don't keep the tap on when you're not using it.
Don't let the water drip so close it tightly.

Yr4
Be careful with the water when you wash your hands.
Check taps are turned off properly.
Only take the water you need to at lunchtime.
Water plants using waste water

Orange
Get taps that we can turn on and off
Don't play with the drinking fountains
Don't waste water
Only use a little water when we are painting. Don't change it too often.

2. We also remembered that we need to write to Westminster Council about them collecting our paper recycling bins more often so that we can recycle more. We will do that at the next meeting as well as decide which ideas we want to work on to save more water.

3. We have some money for each class to buy plants and vegetables to grow - as we decided on our action plan. In class talk about what kind of plants/flowers/vegetables you want to grow.

Here's the action from our plan:
Yr 5&6 to grow vegetables on the balconies in the spring. Yr 1&2 to grow plants outside. Yr 3&4 to have plants in the classrooms. Apply for some money to buy the plants and plant pots. Sunflower growing in the summer term.

(you can find the plan in the resources section of our forum)

4. The next meeting will be Tuesday 28th January 2009.
